Boston Radio: WEEI Adds John Tomase for Website

John Tomasi
WEEI.com has announced the addition of John Tomase as senior sportswriter and columnist. Tomase joins the country's most popular sports radio-branded website from his current position as Red Sox columnist for the Boston Herald. He joined the Herald in 2005, also covering the New England Patriots.

Tomase's responsibilities will include serving as a columnist across all sports, while continuing to excel with his coverage of the Red Sox. Besides his work for WEEI.com, he will be a frequent on-air contributor for Sports Radio 93.7 WEEI in Boston and across New England on the WEEI Network.

WEEI.com site editor Rob Bradford says Tomase strengthens the bench of an already leading digital brand.

"In bringing John aboard, we feel that WEEI and WEEI.com are welcoming one of the best columnists in the country to our family," Bradford said. "I am excited to once again work with John, who I have always viewed as one of the most talented journalists on the New England sports scene."

Tomase replaces Alex Speier, who will leave WEEI Dec. 31 to join The Boston Globe as a feature writer.

A Mansfield native and 1995 graduate of Tufts University, Tomase noted this is the next logical step in his career.

"The world of journalism is changing," he said. "It's no longer enough to work on just one platform. The WEEI brand is recognized beyond the borders of New England not just for its award-winning programming, but for the quality of its reporting, which is a tribute to Rob and his team. I'm looking forward to continuing what they started while stirring the passions of the best sports fans in the world."

Tomase begins his new position Jan. 1.
