L-A Radio: TalkRadio KABC Unveils Completed Line-Up

TalkRadio KABC 790 AM has announced a "refined" lineup for the new year, building on the success of the station’s established shows and adding new local programming hosted by well-known personalities including television Judge Cristina Perez and Dr. Drew Pinsky with “Psycho” Mike Catherwood. Jillian Barberie and John Phillips will also move their hit lunchtime show to afternoon drive time.

In addition to new shows, the lineup includes critically acclaimed and highly rated programs that continue to grow. LARadio.com recently named Doug McIntyre “#1 Morning Show Personality” and “Mid-Day LA with Jillian Barberie & John Phillips” the “#1 Favorite Show” in its timeslot.

The new schedule:
  • 5AM – 9AM: “McIntyre in the Morning with Terri-Rae Elmer”
  • 9AM –12PM: “Judge Cristina Live @ 9”
  • 12PM – 3PM: “Dr. Drew Midday Live with Mike Catherwood”
  • 3PM – 6PM: “The Drive Home with Jillian Barberie and John Phillips”
  • Peter Tilden and Mark Levin continue in their 9pm to Midnight and 6pm to 9pm shows.
About the new shows:

At 9AM, KABC introduces "Judge Cristina Live @ 9"... will focus on topical news throughout the region. Judge Cristina has become a household name as one of the most influential syndicated television hosts from her work hosting court shows on network television, including “Justice for All with Judge Cristina Perez,” (airing mornings on KCAL 9 in Los Angeles), “Cristina’s Court”  (FOX) and “La Corte de Familia” (Telemundo). She is the first Hispanic television judge to cross over from Spanish-language television to English-language television, and “Cristina’s Court” won three consecutive Emmy Awards in the “Best Legal/Courtroom Program” category, surpassing industry favorites “Judge Judy” and “People’s Court” for the first-ever recognition of its kind in 2008.

At noon, KABC debuts "Dr. Drew Midday Live with Mike Catherwood"... offering LA-area listeners unique access to Dr. Drew’s thoughts on the news of the day and comprehensive insights on a broad range of topics. Listeners will be encouraged to call in on weekdays and take part in the discussion with one of the country’s most trusted physicians and radio and television personalities. Drew’s longtime on-air partner “PSYCHO” Mike Catherwood will bring fun to the festivities.

“Our live, local and topical programming has been incredibly well received by Los Angeles listeners,” said John Dickey, Executive Vice President and co-COO of Cumulus. “We have attracted some of the top talent in the country and continue to bolster the station’s lineup in order to meet the interests of our widening audience.”

“KABC’S goal is to build a radio station that reflects the climate and attitude here,” said Drew Hayes, Operations Director of TalkRadio 790 KABC. “KABC is a sunny and up-tempo station discussing the news of the day, populated with the nation’s leading personalities. With these additions, we have successfully evolved the station to a compelling, entertaining, true Southern California station.”

  1. Wow, what a "stellar" cast - NOT! When Bryan Suits is gone, Doug is the only show I'll listen to - you've already lost me at 3 when Larry left. Dr. Drew? I'd rather listen to rap. Gee, another Judge? No thanks.

    1. I agree, but they aren't going to do anything about it until people just turn them off.

    2. Why in the devil is Bryan Suits leaving? Why did Larry Elder leave? This is a sign of the times. Who needs another judge anywhere. I guess I will either listen to some music or get some of my reading done. Judy
