NYC Radio: WABC, Radio 103.9 To Air Issues Simulcast

News Talk Radio WABC 770 AM ("Where New York Comes to Talk") will partner with sister Cumulus station and New York's Best Mix of R&B Radio WNBM 103.9 FM for a historic radio summit and simulcast covering some of the most pressing issues of our time.

Both stations will produce a 60-minute, commercial-free discussion focused on the New York City community in light of the Ferguson uproar, the Eric Garner decision, related protests and ongoing discussions with Mayor Bill de Blasio and the NYPD.

This broadcast will include substantial, heartfelt conversation discussing the issues facing the city, recounting events and proposing proactive solutions on how the city and its people can move forward.

Taking part in the discussion will be 77 WABC’s Curtis Sliwa and Ron Kuby, Radio 103.9 host DL Hughley and Minister Kirsten John Foy, Northeast Regional Director of the National Action Network. This conversation will be aired live on Wednesday, January 14 at 12PM ET as a joint broadcast on both Radio 103.9 FM and 77 WABC and on the stations’ respective websites: radio1039NY.com and wabcradio.com. This live simulcast, incorporating the diverse viewpoints of the stations’ hosts, stands as a rare and historic endeavor in the New York radio market.

“We are happy to be a part of this extremely timely dialogue,” said Ken Johnson, Radio 103.9 Program Director. “If we can set an example for a civil discussion and spark discourse nationally, then we have accomplished our mission.”

“Ultimately, our stations are here to serve the community and this historic simulcast demonstrates our commitment to our audiences in an honest, compelling way,” said Craig Schwalb, 77 WABC Program Director.

The entire program will be available on-demand as a podcast that will be posted online following the broadcast.
