Louisville Radio: George Lindsey Leaving WXMA For Houston

George Lindsey
Radio personality George Lindsey of WXMA 102.3 FM The Max, announced Tuesday during the station's "Lambert & Lindsey Morning Show" that he is moving to Houston to host a radio show on CBS Country KILT 100.3 FM The Bull in Houston.

Lindsey's last day on air is Friday. He has co-hosted the morning show with Linda Lambert for more than 15 years.

Lindsey, a Grayson County native who claims Louisville as his home, said he'll miss Louisville, its restaurants and the people. Most of all, he said, "I'm going to miss my partners in the morning."

But according to the Louisville Business Journal,  he couldn't pass on the opportunity to work in a top-10 market. It gives him the chance to "reinvent myself and to take on a new challenge," he said. Also, the move will be a bit easier because his brother, Jordan, lives in Houston.

Lindsey is also the station's program director and Louisville operations manager for Alpha Media, a media company based in Portland, Ore., that owns five Louisville radio stations. Besides WXMA, those station are WDJX-FM (99.7 DJX), WGZB-FM (96.5 Blazin), WGHL-FM (105.1 GHL) and WMJM-FM (101.3 Magic).

In his absence, mid-day host Sarah Jordan will serve as the interim program director, and radio personalities Linda Lambert and Jesse Rasmussen will continue co-hosting the morning show.

At KILT-FM, Lindsey will take the slot most recently held by Greg Thunder, who departed in November after four years with the station.
