Don Imus Leaving FOX Business Network

Don Imus
FBN confirmed the news Monday night following Imus’s rather understated announcement in the morning: “We go off television May 29. Why? I do not know. There’s 10 times, maybe a hundred times more people that listen to the radio than watch television. That’s the mentality of… whatever,” said Imus before changing the subject.

According to TV Newser, a network executive with knowledge of the decision said the plan had been in the works since January when Imus informed FNC Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes that he was moving to Texas. Both sides agreed to part ways.

Ailes is said to have had a warm relationship with Imus for more than 30 years and is appreciative of the contributions he made to the network.

FBN is planning for the future of the 6am-9am slot which Imus has hosted for the last six years. He joined in 2009, two years after FBN went on the air.

Meanwhile, FOX colleague Greta Van Susteren Monday took to scolding Imus online for words he said about Dana Perino last week, according IJ Review.

Imus went on a tirade against Perino last week, one day after interviewing her. He alleged that she came into the studio with “an attitude,” and took issue with her “rehearsed talking points” and hesitance to answer his exact questions.

Van Susteren took to her blog Monday to blast Imus for his treatment of Perino:
“Let me be the first to respond to this: Don Imus is bitter and mean spirited (maybe trying to get attention as his show ends May 29?),” she wrote. “I have no idea what provoked this — but it sure is nasty and unwarranted. It is not exactly the kind of legacy one wants to have as one leaves a show. Is this how he wants everyone to remember him? And Dana, as a true professional, should just ignore it.”
