R.I.P.: WSYR Syracuse NY Morning Host Joe Galuski

Joe Galuski
Joe Galuski, who spent more than 25 years or the air on N/T WSYR 570 AM Syracuse NY, has died. Morning host George Kilpatrick announced Galuski's death on the air Thursday morning.

Galuski was 64 years old, according to syracuse.com.

Last October, Galuski went on air to explain a prolonged absence from his regular morning show. He explained he had been diagnosed with cancer.

Several weeks ago, Galuski learned his non-Hodgkins lymphoma was "untreatable by conventional methods," according to a GoFundMe page set up by his family.

After eight months of treatment and seven rounds of chemotherapy, the disease had not abated.

The battle with cancer was Galuski's second -- he was diagnosed with (and overcame) non-Hodgkins lymphoma 22 years ago.

Galuski joined WSYR radio in 1988. For most of his tenure, he hosted a local morning news program. Kilpatrick and others have been filling in for Galsuki since he went off the air late last year.
