Sac Radio: KMJE Flips With Competitor's Airstaff

Lotus Broadcasting on Monday flipped it's KMJE 890 AM / 92.1 FM to SpanishTop40 branding as Vive 92.1.

The station's previous format was Spanish Adults Hit.

In launching the new station, Lotus hired the entire airstaff of crosstown Spanish CHR KLMG 97.9 FM. The station is owned by Lazer Broadcasting.

According to Sacramento's News10, Lotus mostly was in talks with Ana Alicia Contigo, the morning talent and program director. She said, if you want me you have to hire the others: Julieta Gil, Jose Luis Solis and Yadira De Dios.

All four in an "all or nothing" pact is a risky move. But is worked.

"Kind of a historical move in Sacramento when four people make a move across town as another ... Unique. Very unique," 92.1 FM's General Manager Jorge Esquillin said.

Contigo, Gil, Solis and De Dios also came with the promise of national syndication and with that, a dream of unlimited possibilities -- Las Vegas has been added with more to come.
