FL Radio: WRUF-AM Adds FM Simulcast

The University of Florida's WRUF 850 AM (5 Kw DA-N) sports radio channel is expanding to FM Wednesday with the launch of a simulcating on W237EJ 95.3 FM, bringing its ESPN formet to a wider audience.

The stations include more than six hours of live local sports talk on weekdays, including host Steve Russell from 2 to 4 p.m., "The Tailgate with Jeff Cardozo and Adam Schick" from 4 to 6 p.m. and the new "Dooley and Collett" show with host Tom Collett and Gainesville Sun columnist Pat Dooley from 10 a.m. to noon.

The lineup also includes the addition of "Southern Sports Today with Chuck Oliver" from noon to 2 p.m. Live sporting events include Gator athletics, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Rays and Westwood One's coverage of the NFL, NCAA football, plus The Paul Finebaum show.

WRUF AM was the first radio station in Gainesville when it signed on as a 100-watt NBC affiliate in 1928 and has been broadcasting Gator football games ever since.

The station became a CBS affiliate in 1981 and went to sports fulltime in 2010 before becoming an ESPN affiliate in 2012. It has been a training ground for many UF journalism students.
