R.I.P.: Longtime Topeka Broadcaster Bob Fidler Was 74

Former WIBW 580 AM News Director Bob Fidler passed away Monday night.

He was 74, according to WIBW.

Bob was born November 24, 1941 in Geary, Ind. During the 1980s and ’90s, he worked as Director of Operations at local PBS television affiliate KTWU and volunteered at the station for several years following his time there.

He joined 580 WIBW’s news department in May 2003 and served as news director before retiring in April 2012.

He won numerous Kansas Broadcaster Association awards, including one in 2012 for 580 WIBW’s election coverage. Aside from his role as a radio personality, Bob worked to pass down his knowledge to future broadcasters as a mass media professor at Kansas State University.
