Melania Trump Suing Media Outlets

Melania Trump
Melania Trump has threatened to sue several media outlets for defamation, including Politco and Britain's Daily Mail, over a report claiming she was an escort in the 1990s.

Charles Harder, the attorney for the wife of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, said he's also threatened Politico over its reporting on Melania's immigration history.

The lawsuit threats come after the Daily Mail published a report days ago that cited a magazine in Trump's native Slovenia that claimed a New York modeling agency that once represented her also operated as an escort agency for wealthy clients.

Other news outlets then picked up or referenced that report.

When media outlets are put "on notice," as Harder has done, it's a warning that allows them a chance to retract or correct a story, and two of the targets, Inquisitr and Bipartisan Report, issued retractions and apologies yesterday.

Harder is the same attorney who represented Hulk Hogan in his successful defamation suit against Gawker Media. Hogan won $140 million, which bankrupted Gawker Media, leading to its sale to Univision and the shutdown of its flagship site, Gawker.com.
