CBS Radio Names Brian McHale SVP/Info Technology

CBS RADIO has named Brian McHale as Senior Vice President, Information Technology, effective today.  In this newly created role, McHale will be responsible for building and overseeing CBS RADIO’s first dedicated information technology team, along with effective technological strategies and infrastructure to support the Company’s 117 radio stations across 26 markets, and digital assets.

He will be based at the Company’s New York City headquarters, and report to Andre Fernandez, CBS RADIO’s President.

McHale will also develop security solutions to protect CBS RADIO’s multi-platform products, and build a structure to support the IT needs of the Company’s employees at both the enterprise and local market levels.

“In today’s hyper digital world, the flow, security and enhancement of information technology is the backbone of any company,” said Fernandez. “Brian has vast experience with developing and implementing world-class IT infrastructures and will lead CBS RADIO to create a superior system that supports every function of our business.”

Information Technology is a business enabler, a support structure that partners with every division to drive optimum performance across all platforms. I’m honored to develop and lead this important function for CBS RADIO. ”

Most recently, McHale served as the SVP and Chief Information Officer of American Apparel Inc., where he rebuilt the entire IT organization from the ground up. Prior to that, he was the Chief Technology Officer of Journal Broadcast Group where he was responsible for broadcast engineering for the Company’s radio and television stations, and developed a multi-platform technology plan that also incorporated web, mobile and OTT properties. Before Journal Broadcast Group, McHale served as the VP of Technology for Fisher Communications where he introduced news automation, cloud-based sharing and a media asset management system to improve collaboration amongst the Company’s radio and television stations.

Earlier in his career, McHale held various senior level IT positions with Mobile500 Alliance, DIRECTV Sports Networks, Starz Entertainment, Discovery Communications, and Verizon Communications.
