L-A Radio: KROQ, DTS Team For Series Of Intimate Shows

KROQ, the world renowned alternative rock station, and DTS, a company dedicated to creating and delivering premium audio experiences, have partnered, in a multi-year agreement, to create a series of intimate live shows featuring the biggest names in alternative rock, hosted inside the newly redesigned HD Radio Sound Space at KROQ.

The premiere performance of 2017 will be on Monday, February 27 at 3:00 PM PT with AFI, hot off the release of their new album AFI (The Blood Album) (Concord), which hit No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative and Hard Rock Albums Charts and No. 5 on The Billboard 200. The album features the hit single, "Snow Cats," currently in heavy rotation on KROQ, which helped propel the album's success.

"As a leader in the highest quality audio equipment and sound, it makes perfect sense that DTS has come on board as our exclusive partner on the newly rebranded HD Radio Sound Space," said Kevin Weatherly, Senior Vice President, Programming, CBS RADIO and KROQ PD. "The upgraded performance space is a destination for alternative rock's top artists, providing them with a unique and intimate location to connect with passionate KROQ listeners, fans and followers."

Listeners will be treated to a unique experience to see AFI live and in person by winning tickets on-air online, and via social contesting. Attendees of previous performances inside the KROQ Sound Space have called it "the time of my life!" All other fans will be able to catch the performance live on KROQ's HD2 Channel (106.7-2 FM) and live webcast at KROQ.com. The performance will be available online for 24 hours following the show.

The Sound Space at KROQ, located inside the KROQ Studios in Culver City, has been a sought-after performance space since its creation in 2011. This new partnership with DTS makes HD Radio the exclusive sponsor of the performance space, which features a dynamic new interior and exterior design with special upgrades made specifically to lighting and artwork. Twenty One Pilots, blink-182, Linkin Park, Green Day, Arcade Fire, Coldplay, Sting, Weezer, and many more have performed in the up-close-and-personal venue.
