Atlanta Radio: Original Morning 99X Show To Reunite For Day

Cumulus Media has announced that the original three hosts of “The Morning X” on 99X (WNNX-FM) – Steve Barnes, Leslie Fram and Jimmy Baron – will return to the Atlanta airwaves for the first time in more than a decade, as part of 99X’s 25th anniversary celebration.

The popular radio broadcast team will host a special four-hour morning show on 99X on October 26, 2017, from 6am-10am. Listeners can expect a healthy dose of laughter and gags, celebrity interviews and nostalgic banter from the trio, who ruled Atlanta’s morning airwaves from 1993 to 2003, when the station moved to an online format. 99X debuted in Atlanta on October 26, 1992, as an alternative rock station, and has since been programmed as a hard rock station and a country station, returning to its original alternative rock format and re-branding as 99X on January 1, 2016.

Sean Shannon, Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus Media-Atlanta, said: “25 years ago this month, 99X signed on the air, giving Atlanta a radio station committed to new music discovery, the local music scene and to building community. That’s the DNA for 99X today and we are proud to celebrate that heritage with, for one morning, the return of the Morning X.”

Greg Ausham, 99X Program Director, said: “There is no better way to mark the anniversary of the birth of one of the most influential radio stations in the country.”

Fram was formerly 99X Program Director, in addition to co-hosting the 99X morning show with Barnes and Baron. She is a senior vice president for Country Music Television in Nashville, TN. Barnes is President of Atlanta-based video production company, Barnes Creative Studios and Baron is a successful Realtor for Keller Williams Realty in Atlanta.

In addition to the reunion special on “The Morning X”, 99X will mark its 25th anniversary with other on-air surprises, guests and giveaways throughout the day on October 26th.
